Cold and Grey
Aug. 13th, 2004 08:22 pmHas it really been a week since I've updated this thing. Insane, absolutely.
It's raining. It's cold and grey and cloudy and raining and it's freaking August! I can't believe it. This weather is unreal. I can't believe that I actually miss the hot weather, that I want to be sweating and miserable. Stupid weather, throwing my whole world askew.
Had a good time last weekend with
hlgraban,
drunken_buzzard and
chica_buena. It was fun in the sun with lots of good food and good times. Am now looking forward to having movie night with
baylorsr and her sister tomorrow evening. *happy sigh* It's always nice to watch movies with like-minded people;-).
It's been a rather boring week, a fact that unfortunately corresponds to the drab weather. However, to brighten both my night and your's, under the cut I will be handing out some fic recs and a picture of My Pup.
It's always entertaining to surf through a new fandom in search of good fanfiction. So now, for your reading pleasure, the three best stories/series I have found in the Harry Potter fandom. In no particular order:
shoebox_project might just be one of the most hillarious, sweet, engaging series I've read in a while. It takes place in the Marauder-era and features some of the most charming characterizations of Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs that I have ever read. It's an ongoing series with updates every Thursday and I love it to bits.
Stealing Harry by
copperbadge is an AU that asks what if Lucius Malfoy had arrived at the Potters before Sirius Black and was sent to Azkabahn in his place and what would happen to Harry Potter because of that? I love this story and it's sequels. They're lovely and fun and bittersweet and I don't think anyone writes a better Remus Lupin then Sam does.
And, finally,
yahtzee63 wrote The Bloody Stare of Mars, a dystopic look at a future wherein Lord Voldemort rises to power and Hermione is all alone. This is the story that converted me to the Harry Potter fandom and, like all of
yahtzee63's stories, it is a striking, powerful work.
And now, The Pup

Whew. Happy Olympics Weekend and a fervent Good Luck! to everyone battling Hurrican Charley!
