Hee! Fireworks are going off everywhere, it's so cool. They scare the Pup and I laugh and then go back to surfing the internet;-).

Got up really early this morning to go sing at a flag-raising ceremony. I like the choir I'm in, it's good and we sing difficult music and I get to sing (a very important point;-). My only problem is that we just don't get together enough, but that's a minor quibble.

Anyway, started the morning with some really high notes, napped this afternoon and woke up groggy 'cause it was freaking hot and I am stubborn and will not put an air-conditioner in the window. I refuse to let summer get the better of me. Ha!

Last night the Da, the Big Lug and I went to see Harry Potter in IMAX. The cost was exorbinate, but it was worth the trip. It was hillarious, let me tell you about it;-).

The Big Lug only came along 'cause he wanted to see a movie in the new IMAX theater here in town. He has never read the books and has only seen half and hour of the first Harry Potter movie. The Da has read through Prisoner of Azkaban and seen the other two movies.

The movie began with a quick, whispered summary of Harry's life for the Big Lug (his parents are dead, he lives with his evil aunt and uncle, he goes to a magic boarding school and a Dark Lord is trying to kill him).

Here are some of the important comments that were made by the Big Lug during the movie:

"He's jerking off!" (during the opening scene with magic under the covers)

100 repetitions of "British people suck." (yes, he is a moron)

"There's a porno like this." (when Harry is flying on Buckbeak for the first time.)

"It's like Never-ending Story." (same scene, gets a special mention because I had the same thought the first time I saw PoA)

Followed by another 500 repetitions of "British people suck." (he's very strange).

"He's like Anakin!" (referencing angry, crying Harry on a rock) to round it out.

He also thought that Remus was actually Sirius Black, and then he thought he was really Peter Pettigrew and overall, I think he enjoyed the movie.

My love of Remus and Ron was reaffirmed. I was, once again, happily surprised by a John Williams score that had so few John Williams cliches in it. I heavily critiqued the acting and found the adults to be brilliant, thought Dan Radcliffe did a good job, most of the time. The 'crying on the rock' scene was pretty poor and when he's not the focus of a scene/conversation he gets a blank look on his face, but he does angry really, really well and his scenes with Remus were always very well played. Emma Watson was very good save a few over emphasized lines/emotions. Rupert Grint was good, his only crime is trying too hard at times and overplaying an emotion/response. Tom Felton was actually very good and played Draco well as the broad bully charicature that JKR has given us.

Don't worry, I love them all. I critique the ones I love. You should've heard my thoughts while I was watching LotR. Shoot, I watched Sean Astin like a hawk and mentally evaluated all of his acting choices. My head can be a scary, scary place, for actors, that is;-).

The Da really liked the movie and said, "Good movie. It's better then the book. I was excited, something the book never accomplished." Truer words have never been spoken;-).

Wow, I cannot believe how much I enjoy that movie and it was even better the second time 'round! On the ride home we talked about dead actors and I learned of the Da's deep and abiding dislike for Marlon Brando (except for The Godfather).

We're really very different people who occasionally say the same things, I swear;-).

Whee! Now it's raining! Yay!
