Some family news first: The Wrestler and the Philosopher are another step closer to the Big Day. On Sunday we all sat down together (yes, even the Mum who has had some kind of an epiphany and is no longer acting like a fuctard) and sketched out the whole wedding rigamarole. They actual ceremony will be performed in the Oakland, CA temple (the Philosopher's from that area) and there will be a large-ish dinner afterwards with her family. About a week or so later (after they've had the chance to enjoy their honeymoon) there will be a reception in Ann Arbor for our side of the family. The plan is to hold the reception in either the Union or the League at U-Michigan, both of which are extremely classy venues to hold such an event.

So, not only is my littler brother getting married to an awesome person but I also get to go out to San Francisco for the first time ever. With the added bonus of being able to get out of MI for a week at the end of February which is, traditionally, the worst time to be in MI.

I'm so super excited!

You wanna know another exciting thing? I found out yesterday that the Red Dawn remake is filming in MI. Which means that right now Jeffrey Dean Morgan is quite possibly in my state being all John Winchester-y. Every time I think about it I feel like I have to go lie down because it's just so overwhelming.

*takes deep, calming breaths*

OMG SHOW IS ON TONIGHT! Why won't time go faster? Go.Faster. *stares at clock*

Ooooh, Oakland is MY temple, and it is so beautiful!! And you're going to love San Francisco, it is absolutely made of awesome. Bring a coat, though: California ain't MI but it's cold in February. Especially the City. :)

So so so so glad to hear about the wedding-related sit-down and your mother's evolution away from insanity! Also, yay you for being in CA in February, not in MI! The temple in Oakland is amazing--from the outside, at least--I've never been inside. My grandparents lived on the downhill side of it when I was a kid. So pretty! And then yay to a MI reception, too!

Just came back from Part 1 of the new in-laws' version of this same kind of plan. Am wiped out from the relative crazeh of it all, and the crazehness of all the relatives. Emo fallout to evolve as we near and pass the Chicago version of the event.

Will catch up with you very soon. Now I must find clothing, for apparently society requires me to cover my nakedness wtf.

LOVE!

I am so super-relieved that my mom has dialed back the crazy. Though it's still lingering there, right under the surface.

Wow, sounds like you had quite the weekend, and not necessarily in a good way. Oh, family, how so difficult?

I don't understand why society requires clothing. It's not like we're born with them on, or anything.

I'm so excited for it all! And thankfully we were wise enough to schedule a couple extra days out in SF so that we could take in some of the sites.

And I'll bring a coat, but the even if it's cold and raining in CA it'll still feel like shorts and t-shirt weather for us Michiganians. FYI: We'll be the crazy people trying to find a beach to go swimming. ;-)
