I have no time today, not time at all. Overdue papers to write, classes to go to. I can't just abandon my precious column, though;-). So, for todays viewing pleasure we have some spotty Harry Potter IV news, an interview with [livejournal.com profile] liptonrm harem member Ron Perlman and the possibility of Ridley Scott being involved in a fifth Alien movie.

Didn't they just release a new Harry Potter trailer? Well, it looks like they're going to be releasing another one this Friday. I'll watch it, of course I will. They Harry Potter hype is really starting to heat up and now it looks like it's only going to get hotter. Apparently they've begun second unit filming for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. You know, I should really read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix one of these days.

I'll be the first to admit that I've never been a huge fan of the Mission Impossible movies. I dislike Tom Cruise, I'll freely admit to that. He's just acts so damn arrogant even though he's not that great an actor. Just rubs me the wrong way. However, I might have to eat my words and become a Mission Impossible fan because they've got some real talent attached to work on the third one. Apparently they've just signed Frank Darabont, the man who brought us The Green Mile, to write the script and Joe Carnahan, the man who directed Narc is already attached to direct. Both men say they want to take the franchise in a new direction. I think I'm getting excited about a Mission Impossible movie. I always thought that was...impossible. *groan*

Darabont Accepts the Mission

I'm a huge Ridley Scott fan. Just a couple months ago I went out and bought to Ridley Scott movies for my very own, and if you knew how picky I am about the DVDs I actually spend my money on, you'd recognize that as a sign of true devotion;-). He's working on quite a few epic movies at the moment, but, apparently, he's stated that he'd be willing to direct a fifth Alien movie and it's all dependant on how well Alien vs. Predator does at the box office. Dangit, now I'm going to have to go see that movie (not that I wasn't going to see it anyway;-). Check out the interview.

Ridley Scott talks about new Alien film

I have two interviews to share with you today. One is by that oddball director himself, Kevin Smith. I know you've all seen at least one of his movies. Come on, admit it;-). For my generation, at least, his work is practically required viewing. In this interview he talks about his upcoming movie Jersey Girl and also talks a little bit about his love it/hate it relationship with the internet. If nothing else, he sure is an entertaining guy.

I think I'm starting to fall in love with Ron Perlman. Maybe it's that deep voice, maybe it's his unbridled enthusiasm for playing Hellboy, who can say. He's certainly becoming an actor who's movies I will see just because he's in them. Come on, you have to love a guy who says things like, "I never direct myself, because I don't like working with me. I would punch me in the mouth if I had to take my direction." He talks here about playing Hellboy and a little bit about what else he's working on at the moment.

There's trouble in James Bond paradise. Looks like the people in charge of the production are choking on their own success. According to Pierce Brosnan the writers, directors and producers are so intimidated by the last movie they did that they don't know what to do for the next movie. Poor little guys, so terrorized by their own popularity. Shoot, just so long as they can promise me Pierce Brosnan as James Bond (and a lack of Halle Berry in any sort of role) then I'll be there with bells on. Maybe they should just all sit down and watch some Alias. Nothing sparks the creative spy juices like a little Bristow family melodrama;-).

Brosnan Talks 007 Again

Speaking of Alias, the season 3 DVD artwork has been released. It looks soooo pretty. I imagine that the other woman in the background is Lauren, Vaughn's evil wife. I can't wait till this comes out, I'm already chomping at the bit. I love my new TV show addiction very, very much and DVD is the only way I get to see it. September 7th can't come fast enough for me.

And now, for the gratuitous trailer spam. Coming today is a trailer for a very successful movie that was released this weekend, a movie I haven't seen, yet, and a trailer I only watched yesterday. I am, of course, speaking about the trailer to Dawn of the Dead. I have to see this movie, it is imperative that I see this movie.

The Zombies LIVE!

That's all for today, folks. Stay warm, stay safe and be sure to watch lots of movies this week. The siren sound of the silver screen is caaaalling to yoooouuu...
