Sep. 1st, 2008 03:10 pmYou know what I did last night? I stood around with
baylorsr for four and a half hours in the late August sun and heat at a Triple-A baseball field in Battle Creek, MI waiting to hear Barack Obama speak. And then he spoke! It was so awesome. I now radiate moonbeams of hope and kittens are about to erupt out of my chest!
ummmm, that last bit might not make much sense if you didn't watch The Daily Show last week. ;-)
Then when we were trying to leave a sheriff's deputy parked his car right across the street. Baylor and I were a little bitchy about being stuck there until we realized that the deputy was closing off traffic because the motorcade was going to pass by. We got to see they motorcade pass by! After all of that we were so famished that we stopped at a Denny's a couple stops down the freeway only to discover that the non-smoking section was full of democrats who had just come from the rally. Baylor and I joked that someone should put JFK and Jimmy Carter speeches on the sound system and we could all get together in a group and have a nice, therapeutic cry session followed by a drum circle. Unfortunately, we all ate our hamburgers instead. I guess hope takes a lot out of you. Though I did get to meet a guy who shook both Obama and Biden's hands, he said getting to the stadium super-early was totally worth it.
It's been a very political weekend for me, as I went out door-knocking on Saturday for the dem running for US Congress in my district. Yes, I'm one of those people. Heck, I'm so fired up I kind of, sort of want to run for political office in my own area. I have ideas about alternative energy and how the local government could jumpstart the process in my area. Plus, you know, I'd totally have the fangirl vote. ;-)
Classes start back up tomorrow. Secured Transactions, oh boy.
In conclusion: HOPE
