My sinuses hate me and want me to die. But I'm sure the sweet potato chips and ice cream I ate will make it all better. If not then the drugs will. ;-)

Forgot to mention, saw Bourne Ultimatum last week with the Da. It was very enjoyable. I think I might have liked it better than the previous incarnations. It's nice to see a movie series get better with each subsequent incarnation rather than the worsening that we usually see. And, yes, I'm pretty sure 'worsening' isn't a real word but the point remains the same.

From what I can tell Heroes is busy casting every actor who has ever been in a semi-genre show ever. You know, it's funny, but the current state of TV means better jobs for actors than ever before. The idiot box isn't really an idiot anymore. I mean, yeah, there are still some pretty abysmal programs out there but the trend continues to swing in the other direction. It's ... nice. And a good time to be a TV fan.

So I made the Baylor Sister borrow The Dark is Rising a while ago and she's finally reading it now that a movie adaptation is coming out in October. Apparently it's kinda creeping her out so she can only read a chapter at a time. Have to say, I never had that reaction. I was enthralled and intrigued and swept away but never creeped out. Have to admit, I think that has more to do with how difficult it is for me to intensely feel atmosphere while reading rather than the Baylor Sister being a pansy. See also how I hardly ever cry when reading a book but I bawl like a baby during most movies/tv shows/etc.

Ha! Perfect segue into why I am cautiously optimistic about the Dark is Rising movie that's coming out. Believe you me, I've heard the rumours and read some spoilers and various set visits and the like; I know that Walden Media is changing oodles and oodles of things in their adaptation. But, here's the thing, after the fabulous way they adapted The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe I think they've earned the chance to prove themselves, changes and all. I can certainly see how that the book, as stands, would need some changes in order to make it into a watchable movie (and my love for the book is nearly unparalleled). If the Harry Potter movies have taught us nothing it's that being too faithful to a book can be extremely detrimental for a movie (Goblet of Fire or Chamber of Secrets anyone?). So, yeah, I'm reserving judgment and stemming the bubbling flow of panic until I've seen the product for myself.

*crosses fingers* please oh please oh please do not screw this up.

Ummm, yeah. I don't really have anything else. I played a lot of Sims over the weekend. Re-read some of the Temeraire novels sporadically to lift my mind out of Kavalier and Clay a little (fantastic book but can get a little heavy after a while). Have a mad food crush on Alton Brown, but that's pretty much a given.

And, wow, that's a whole lot of verbiage to talk about pretty much nothing at all. This truly is the Age of the Blogger. I love it. \m/
