Jan. 5th, 2005 01:16 pmLettuce. I'm not a big fan, which is strange as I love me a good salad as much as the next girl. See, ancient lettuce used to be bitter, heck, I learned in some religion class that it was once used as the bitter herb during Passover seder. What this means is that every now and again I'll take a bite into a salad and get left with this horrible taste in my mouth, rather then the refreshing leafy green taste I was looking for. Plus there are all of these weird, gourmet lettuces that are even more bitter then the normal heads of lettuce that can be found in any neighborhood grocery store and those tend to be even more bitter then the worst that the other stuff can throw at you. So, yeah, not a fan.
*sigh* I do love me some salad, though.
Today's been a La La La kind of day. It's the kind of day that has me distracted by all sorts of pretty things. My attention span wanders and I giggle for (apparently) no reason at all. This can be attributed to any number of things, I am sure, not least of which being the 4 episodes of The West Wing I watched last night and the anticipation of a new Lost that will be airing on a tv screen near me tonight.
Did you all know that the word 'equip' comes from a nautical Scandinavian background, the same background that brings us the word 'skipper'? I love my new word origin calendar.
