Dec. 4th, 2007 04:16 pmI predict extra posting this week. I'm running hot and cold re: law school finals. Half of my psyche is freaking out and the other half is burned out. So I foresee much blank staring at the computer screen when I should be outlining in the near future.
Have been watching that SciFi Tin Man miniseries. It's not too bad. I mean, it's not spectacular or anything but it's kept me engaged, so that's something. It's got a great cast that's only made better by the addition of a few very recognizable Vancouver actors. Neal McDonough is very good and I've counted at least two occasions where he fell into paratrooper hand signal mode when ordering people around, so that was entertaining. It's not the Oz I grew up with but it has a female character on a hero's quest and several nods to Baum's Oz, as well as MGM's, so it's not complete blasphemy or anything like that. As a steam punk reimagination it works fairly well. If only they'd gotten someone else to write the music. Ugh, is it annoying.
I still think that someone should turn Baum's Oz books into a television show. Or possibly a few limited series. There are a lot of great things buried in those books that would make for some excellent television.
Messiah was fantastic on Saturday night, even if the roads were veritable death traps. The acoustics in Hill Auditorium are to die for and the performances were fantastic. The sheer magnitude and beauty of it all left me with tears in my eyes. Plus I got to sing along with the choir during the Hallelujah Chorus. I've never hit high notes so well with so little warm up ever before in my life.
Yeap, like I said, spammity spam spam spam. If I have anything really worth saying I'll be sure and let you all know. ;-)
