Gah. February. Must find way to distract self. Maybe I'll just hibernate until April, that might do the trick;-).

I had a particularly hard time getting up this morning. The Pup and I just wanted to stay in bed, it was so warm and cozy. Of course, then I had to run around and hurry in order to get to work on time, but, you know, a little adrenaline in the morning is a good thing;-).

I didn't go see 50 First Dates this weekend, good recommendations and eye-candy notwithstanding. I did go and see Return of the King for the fifth time, however (and have been informed by the BB that I'd better be willing to see it again when he gets back in March, or the consequences will be dire. The fact that he told me off in Porguguese was the best part;-). So, here are some random observations after the fifth viewing.

First, I just have to say how much I love Howard Shore. I adore that man. If there were anyway for me to somehow go back in time and get into the choir that he worked with to record the score I would so totally be there. To work with the man would be an absolute dream come true. The work he does on the score is breathtaking and inspiring and drives me to tears every single time I listen to it. Masterful.

I still cry like a little baby everytime I see the movie. This time the after-effects were even worse because I went by myself so I was able to go out to my car and have aother sobbing jag before I drove home. Course, I had to sit by this guy who kept on complaining about how the movie just wasn't ending and hence the emotional impact of the Grey Havens and Sam's homecoming weren't quite as strong as they usually are, but I still did a lot of crying (stupid jerkwad kid. Grow up, would ya'?)

In the Houses of Healing, when the Fellowship comes in to see Frodo one by one someone let out a loud-ass catcall for Legolas that just had me snorting and giggling. The way people think Leggy is teh hot is just hilarious to me. Course, then I wanted to learn how to catcall so I could whistle everytime I saw the hobbits, so maybe it's not so hilarious as I thought it was. (Nope, after a moment's thought it's still really funny;-).

There's been a lot of talk lately about the downsizing of Frodo's character and it's true, there are some distinct differences between bookFrodo and movieFrodo but I've come to the conclusion that a lot of that has to do with age. Personally, I always saw Frodo as the hero when I read the books, but I couldn't identify with him until I started growing up and undergoing adult trials and tribulations. The Frodo of the movies is so much younger then bookFrodo that it's no wonder that there are some serious character differences, yet I feel that the core of the character and his struggle remains the same and he's still the hero of the story, no matter what.

I appreciate the Lighting of the Beacons more and more everytime I see it and the Ride of the Rohirrim is still one of the greatest spectacles I've ever seen on a movie screen, large and powerful and so very emotional. I don't think it's possible to love this movie more then I already do.

Watched a movie in Danish yesterday for class. It was old and slow but intersting nonetheless. And hey, now I can say that I've seen a Danish movie, and that's kind of cool, for some reason;-).

You've watched it FIVE TIMES!! Ok, I think we better come down there and show you there are other things to do! :D

I guess this means I won't bother buying the LOTR trivia game that I'm sure will be out soon if it's not already.

Oh, I'm just weird like that. I just feel wrong going to see any other movie while LotR is still in the theater. It's a thing;-).

Go ahead and buy the game (it is out, I've seen it;-). I bet it's a lot of fun.
