My review of Narnia is up over here. Go read it, if you dare. =D

I must warn you all that no matter how much you might want to run out and read Narnia fic after the movie that you shouldn't because most of it is traumatizing beyond words. I love fandom but there are times when it's a freakishly scary place, ya'll.

That being said, there are two fics that I love with all my heart, they are The Made-Up Things and The Wastelands, both by [livejournal.com profile] chaos_pockets.

Have wiled away the hours making batch of Christmas cookies after batch of Christmas cookies. The Mum requests and so I deliver, even though one sheet tried to attack me and left a long burn on the inside of my arm. Such is the price we pay to eat the yummy, yummy cookies.

You know, all I want is to go back and see that movie again and again and again. And then again for good measure. I feel a little bad about it too because apparently King Kong is underperforming slightly at the box office and I want to see that giant ape because OMG how much do I love Peter and Fran and Philippa and WETA and all of them (so very, very, very much) and their movie must do fabulously but my mind is still stuck beyond the Wardrobe. I get strangely loyal for the movies I love and I feel kinda bad now because usually I'm not stuck in the position where there are two movies I love fighting for the same box office revenue. I promise I'll see King Kong PJ, cross my heart hope to die, but just give me a few weeks. I'll always love you, you know that, right?

You know, maybe if Kong wasn't THREE FREAKING HOURS LONG, I might be more eager to rush out and see it.

I'm off to KONG tomorrow with Debbie, who is freakishly excited. I'm not sure I can generate an energy level to match hers, but I'll try. We do love our geeky OT3. Plus, party in KONG-inspired clothing Saturday night :-)

Will revel in your review from work, and check out only fic that you recommend because yeah, from the little I've heard at the distant edges of this fandom, yikes.

You know what freaks me out about the Narnia fandom? I was hunting down icons today (yay! pretty!), and there are all these lovely ones with Peter and Susan, and with Lucy and Mr. Tumnus. And I'd love to use them. Except that I know that 99% of that fandom thinks of it in terms of Peter/Susan and Lucy/Tumnus, and I just... I don't want people to think that's how I'm using them. I almost didn't take/use this icon *points* because it's Peter and his sword, and it would not be a stretch for people to assume I'm making a wink-wink-nudge-nudge joke about boys and swords and wiping them when they're done impaling things. But really, it's one of my very favorite moments from the book and I was just thrilled to see an icon of it with the book's text.

Sigh.

BTW, I read those stories--please to rec more like that. Lucy and Caspian I can deal with. Plus omg the WOE/PERFECTION! of Susan's offspring!

Oi, I know. I hear the pacing's nothing short of brilliant but 3 hours of Kong madness is still three.freaking.hours.

I just bet Debbie's excited. =D Course, there's nothing quite like the New Zealand OT3 to make a fangirl's heart go pitter patter.

That Kong party sounds like oodles of fun.

When I find more good stories I'll share but OMG! I'm almost too traumatized to look.

I say use your pretty, pretty icons because who gives 2 flying figs about what the crazy fandoms think? We know and remember what it means to enjoy these books with the same childlike innocence with which we first read them and we should celebrate that, the krazies be damned.

Isn't the Narnia/HP story just perfection? It chokes me up and makes me love them even more. I went back and forth on the Lucy/Caspian one but Edmund warning Caspian off and Lucy's observations at the end were so heartbreaking that I couldn't help but be touched. *sigh*

Yeah, I was all "eeek" at first with Lucy/Caspian, but she wheedled me into it (as Edmund did). Not sure I'm ultimately okay with the implied sex, but I did enjoy the tragic woe of the story's future. As one who spent much of my pre-teen years making myself Queen Caspian outfits, I pretty much identify with anyone who loves him, and whom he loves. So, yeah.

And I now follow your advice and use my easily interpreted as sexual innuendoish icons because I don't care!!! I love them in a pure, platonic way, and I'm not afraid to buck type and show it!
